As we head in to the New Year we would like to take a look at one of potentially the most influential aspects of the photographic world next year. Color has always been a key component of photography, one that catches the eye, inspires the mind and captures the imagination.
We specifically want to celebrate Pantone 16-1546 Living Coral, a vibrant pastel pink that has been named as Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2019. Said to represent the fusion of modern life, Pantone Living Coral is a nurturing color that appears in our natural surroundings and at the same time, displays an active presence within social media and celebrity fashion circles. Frequently found in nature, the color can be used to showcase the vibrant, energetic world around us to bring to light its truly fascinating form. This can most commonly be seen below sea level in colorful corals and radiant reefs, leading the name Living Coral to the color.
However it is not only found in natural settings, and can be seen in multiple professional applications and can influence purchasing decisions for industries including fashion, home furnishings, and industrial design, as well as product, packaging, web and graphic design.
On a creative note, we can see Living Coral being used from a design aspect over the next year frequently. Some websites are already looking to have their main color theme as Living Coral, and we have seen a slight uptick in the color being used in marketing materials such as newsletters.
Expect to see a lot more of Living Coral over the next year, and if you’re feeling inspired, utilize it in your designs and make the most of Pantone’s Color of the Year.
