An emerging style of imagery is that of people standing up to perceived injustices. This can be related to social, economic, environmental or governmental issues. At Ingimage, we have decided to label this style of imagery as ‘Resistance’. Showing that you care for a cause or movement enough to stand up to it can really stand out as being a show of strength or determination.
While these images are popular, they are rarely defined as being their own category. As a result, we often see these images incorporated into other areas such as ‘Authenticity’ or ‘Realism’. As the world moves forward, people are becoming more informed of world events happening around them, and as a result we are seeing a heightened involvement in causes that they feel matter, or those that are close to them.
This leads to a demand, and a use for, ‘Resistance Imagery’. Given the current turbulence of the world that we live in (Brexit, controversial US President, fires in the Amazon rainforest and global recession fears) this a highly contemporary and current topic, and as such we are seeing it being employed more frequently by organizations and individuals alike.
If you’re looking to showcase what it means to stand up for rights, or to ‘resist’, then look no further than the Ingimage Resistance lightbox.
