Due to the Coronavirus pandemic grappling the globe, many countries are starting to approach a number of weeks in self isolation. We are beginning to feel the strain and boredom start to creep in. Whether you are enjoying the time at home or you’re becoming restless, we have numerous suggestions to keep busy or relaxed.
Majority of citizens around the world are allocated to exercise outdoors once daily. Weather permitting, they’re getting out – for a walk, run or cycle around the block. We’re beginning to notice the new life starting to bloom as we step into Spring. Or for those in the Southern Hemisphere, the leaves beginning to change and fall away.
Spending time outside seems like the place to be. Whether the garden needs some TLC or you do. Gardening is said to be very therapeutic as it can increase your serotonin levels (a happy chemical which also strengthens the immune system). Don’t have a garden? No worries, get your yoga mat out. Yoga is a great way to balance your body, mind and soul through breathing, mediation and movement.
For the people who aren’t yoga friendly and are perhaps in need of some ‘me time,’ how about soaking in a long bath? Or refining your taste buds by creating a new concoction or two? Crank up the music with housemates or live-in family and enjoy your weekly after work drinks.
Although people crave to get out and about, staying indoors doesn’t have to be boring or unproductive. Many dedicate time to organising their home or jump on Google and get some tips from expert Marie Kondo. There’s no time like the present to get Spring cleaning underway and clear out that wardrobe. Who else is guilty of hoarding items you no longer need? If this is you, why not start a donation pile of clothes you don’t wear anymore.
How about sparking your creative side? There are so many wonderful creative tasks to try – painting, drawing, photography, playing a musical instrument or even making your own jewellery. These are great activities for children that will keep them occupied for some time. Who knows they might even unleash a new talent.
Completed all these suggestions? We’ve created an Isolation Activities lightbox for you to gather more ideas.
