Anyone who puts creative energy and passion into their work, draws inspiration from somewhere. Whether it be fellow artists, film, literature, nature or technology – photographers, designers, creative directors and web developers all have something that inspires them to create work in the way they do. We’ve had a chat with a few of our visual content creators and curators to find out where they get their inspiration from.
What our Contributor’s say…
We work with a number of photographers and designers to keep our online libraries fresh and interesting for our clients.
A few months ago, we spoke to Askold, a vector artist who contributes to the Ingimage collection. He explained that he and his team gather inspiration primarily from their customers by developing their own in-house big data tools which help them analyse what is being downloaded and how often. This lets them see what customers are looking for and they’re then able to build their customer offering accordingly. They also promote their own conceptual works through their Instagram account which helps them see what people are after based on likes and shares.
Another contributor who draws inspiration from the public space is Javier, a photographer who has contributed to Ingimage for over 3 years. Javier says he observes people and their behaviour, how they go about their lives on a daily basis and draws creative inspiration from their habits. This has led him to develop a natural, authentic style of photography, bolstered by his observation and interest in others’ works of artistic photography throughout the world.
Matthew, a UK based photographer gets his inspiration from the industry. He reads books, follows blogs and browses photographic collections to see what is being made by photography agencies at the time and keeps a close eye on trends appearing in modern media. In particular, Matthew says that reading photography books greatly enhances his ability to find new locations to shoot, adding a strong element of variety and flair to his work.
What our own team says…
Lastly, we have our own content team. Keen photographers themselves and responsible for monitoring and approving content across our platforms, they have to draw inspiration to curate and develop our collections, as well as identify current trends and keep our content up to date. Nicola, our Senior Picture Editor, explains that current culture trends play a big part, and looking for content to include in collections representing trends is what develops the team’s artistic inspiration.
“We are always looking for content that fits the moment. A few months ago, we were curating an ‘Authenticity’ collection, so we were on the lookout for images that showed the human side of people. We wanted to see raw human emotion and images that challenged the status quo. So, while there may be great images out there, the greatest ones will always go a step further and represent the trend, but with a unique approach” – Nicola Ferri, Senior Picture Editor.
We are always looking for great content, with trends constantly changing and customer demands shifting to meet the market at any one moment, we review new images on a daily basis. If you would like to contribute to Ingimage or learn more about doing so, please email production@ingrampublishing.com to speak directly with our content team.
