Hello, can you introduce yourself and tell us a little about your background?

I started my career as a picture researcher initially but quickly moved into producing shoots for different agencies. My first stock photography business was a premium Royalty Free collection called Banana Stock which was launched with royalties from my Rights Managed stock. As the impact of microstock became more apparent I sold Banana Stock to Jupiterimages in October, 2005.   After a two-year non-compete agreement, I assessed the landscape and decided there was money to be made in Microstock. Over the past 8 years the team and I have been building our portfolio up to 40000 images along with a growing footage collection

Where did the name ‘Monkey Business Images’ come from?

I have always liked names that are memorable and it was simply part of a brainstorming session where the name came about. I liked the fact that there was a slight link there to Bananastock and everyone in the team reacted well to the idea.

How would you describe your portfolio?

I believe we have a diverse collection with an emphasis on lifestyle photography.  We always try to keep our content ethnically diverse to suits markets worldwide. We travel all over the worlds to get authentic talent from those regions and I believe that reflects in our portfolio.

What kind of work has your images appeared in?

We see our images everywhere, from local papers to Hollywood movies. Its amazing how the demand for content has grown over the years and this is only going to increase.

What is the best place you have travelled for your photography?

Its hard to choose as we travel to so many amazing places but last year we travelled to the Maldives and it was incredible.

What is your most popular image?

Our most popular image was shot in my back garden. The family we used were great and I think we captured a moment that people really loved. Sometimes the simplest shots are the most successful.
