Meet the artist: Logan

Hello Logan:Can you introduce yourself and tell us a little about your background?

I’m originally from Glasgow, Scotland but I now live in London. I came here to pursue a career as an actor. I’ve had a few bit parts in films and adverts, but I’m still waiting for a big break. After chasing this dream for a few years I realised I had to do something else to supplement my income, and that’s how I got into stock photography.

How would you describe your portfolio?

I suppose one word to describe it would be realistic. Most of my images depict real people in real situations. I don’t spend too much time thinking about concepts and styling, I just document my day-to-day life.

Your models faces are never fully revealed in your photography, why have you chosen this approach?

I am not yet at a point in my career where I feel I can justify the cost of hiring models, so I currently use the only two models I know who are consistently willing to work for free – my girlfriend and myself. We both have other jobs as performers which require that we stay in control of our image, so allowing anyone to use our faces to promote just about anything they want royalty free is not in our best interest.

What kind of work have you seen your images feature in?

I often see my images featured on groupon and similar sites. I’ve also seen them used on various blogs. I was pretty proud and excited to see one of my images being used in an article by the Objective Standard, as this is a publication I follow.

What do you like to do when you are not working?

Take pictures! Because I enjoy what I do so much, it doesn’t really feel like work. I carry my camera everywhere, so in a sense I’m always working. When I have the time I practice martial arts, I’ve been doing eskrima and capoeira for 5 and 3 years respectively. I’m a big fan of the movies as well and I try to go whenever there’s a release I’m excited about.
