As vehicle template experts, supplying some of the best vehicle wrapping specialists, we know a thing or two about how to get the best out our product and their service. So, we’ve created a step by step list of tips for working with vehicle templates.
Here’s all you’ll need for a quick & easy vehicle wrapping:
1. Car measurements
This can be done manually but for a huge time saving and a much higher level of accuracy, use a vehicle template supplier – like us! (SignElements)
We have a vast library of over 20 000 makes, models and years to choose from. Including 120+ of the latest 2019 models. See them here.
Some templates span a number of years i.e. 2014-2018 so just be aware of this when searching and always remember to check the actual vehicle you’re working on, for any non-factory modifications that might require an alteration to the template.
2. Graphic design
Design your own wrap over the vehicle template or use a wrap design template alongside the vehicle template – also available on SignElements!
Either way, be as creative as you like but remember the purpose of a vehicle wrap is to advertise a brand/product/service so make sure that is clear, along with clear contact details i.e. website / email / phone number that will be easy for someone to remember. Also bear in mind that this will last a good few years so future-proof the content as far as possible.
Adobe Illustrator is the best program to view, edit or create all templates and wrap artwork. Remember to go for CMYK and set the document to 720ppi, to have it print-ready. Premium images and vectors available from Ingimage can be used in wrap designs, in accordance with royalty-free licensing.
3. Large scale printer
It is best to find a local expert to work with and don’t be afraid to splash out on the best vinyl for the most premium end result.

3. Wrap specialist
Again best to find a local expert. This part is an art so you want the best people for the job.
The process starts with completely wiping down the car of any residue or dirt that might affect a smooth application, this is then repeated using alcohol to remove any of the cleaning agent residue. Application is always done indoors, again to avoid any dust particles. Installation is a slow and meticulous job of smoothing on the vinyl slowly and with special tools. Curved areas are then run over with a hot gun and thermometer to ensure the vinyl reaches the specific temperatures necessary to set to the shape of the car and not retract back.
And there you have it – a freshly wrapped vehicle to showcase your company in a professional and highly visible manner!
